Quest 10: Fairy in a Jar

I believe in fairies. Those cute little helpers that bring you back from the verge of death. I've never met a more helpful creature in all of the LOZ world . . . especially when they are kept quiet in a bottle or six. These shiny creatures have certainly had my back a time or two and should be celebrated as a something wonderful. So let's not dwell on the annoyance of Navi or TatlToday, I will show you how to capture your own fairy to enjoy whenever you want.

BTW . . .  does anyone remember the fairy from the original cartoon? Sprite was by far the funniest. Link is such a whiner in these cartoons.

Here's a link to see the classics .

Gear . . .
a small box of Peach Jell-O
a small box of Raspberry Jell-O
1 small envelope of plain gelatin
1 cup of Ginger Ale
1 container of Bacardi Strawberry Daiquiri frozen mix (still frozen)
2 cups of boiling water, divided into 1 cup increments
a mixing bowl
a rubber spatula
a pint canning jar with lid and ring
a funnel
silicone ice cube tray in roundish shape
a regular teaspoon

The Quest . . .
Gather the goods!

Let's make the solution for the fairy to reside. Start by adding the Peach Jell-O to the mixing bowl with 1/2  of the envelope of the plain gelatin.

Measure out about 1 cup of Ginger Ale and 1 Cup of boiling water.

Dissolve the gelatin mixture with the boiling water. When everything is sufficiently dissolved, add the
ginger ale to the mix. This will fizz, just continue to stir for about 2 minutes.

With jar at the ready, pour gelatin mixture into the jar using the funnel.
I am using a canning funnel, but any one should do.

As you can see, the ginger ale causes it to foam, continue to fill the jar.
You will have to scoop out the foam with a spoon.

Ta-da!

Notice we have sufficient space at the top of the jar.

Add the lid and ring and place in the refrigerator to set.
This will take a while. (Hours)
 In the meantime . . .
Wash out your bowl and start again. This time add the raspberry Jell-O and the
other 1/2 envelope of plain gelatin to the bowl.
Dissolve with 1 Cup of boiling water just like last time.

Add in the container of Strawberry Daquari Mix.

Mix until it is dissolved. You will have to chop it up with the spatula.

That's lovely!

Pour your gelatin mixture into the silicone ice cube tray.
For this recipe, you don't have to use a specific shape. I happened to
have the IKEA hearts ice cube tray, so that is what I am using.
NOTE: I sprayed mine with cooking spray before I added the gelatin..

You will have extra, so you can place the rest in a bowl for yourself later!

When set, you can remove these from the mold by pealing the out of the mold.
Silicone makes this easy. If you used an old school meal tray,
you will have to dip the metal in hot water for a few seconds first.
I molded two hearts together to make a whole shape.

With your spoon, dig into the middle of the jar to create a whole for the
shape to reside.

See. . .

Using your spoon, wedge the shape into the set peach gelatin.

Recap the jar to seal the deal. Now you have your very own (and delicious) fairy in a jar.

Enjoy!
