Quest 7: Goronade! Creating Champions of the Big Bang Game Since the Past.

Goronade is a drink enjoyed by all Goron athletes. This drink is a satisfying way to start any day, help recover from a big sumo match, or the dreaded Goron dancing sequence. Goronade appears in LOZ: Oracle of Ages and is a trade item that you give to a Goron in exchange for a chance to play the Big Bang Game, which is helpful to win, because it gets you the old mermaid key. Drink up on goronade, you have to win two dance competitions to get both mermaid keys. Food for thought: Oracle of Ages was released in 2001; Dancing with the Stars began in 2005 - But Link has been sporting his moves since Majora's Mask when he sports Kamaro's Mask.

Quest 6: You Got the Map!

Wandering around dungeons got you down? Finding your way through those dark hallways of the underwold is now more delicious than ever. Many maps are found in chests or just lying on the floor, but these are found in the oven.  This week, I have two variations, the underworld is sweet to help you navigate the most twisted dungeon; and the overworld is savory to help you get from place to place topside. Either way, these simple but delicious snacks will help guide you to happiness. - Sorry, this recipe is not GF yet!

Underworld Map Gear
1/2 Puff Pastry Sheet
2 T. Melted Butter
3 T. White Sugar
3 T. Brown Sugar
1 T. Cinnamon
Chocolate Mini Chips
Sprinkles
Coconut
Cherries

Overworld Map Gear
1/2 Puff Pastry Sheet
2 T. Olive Oil
2 T. Parsley
Carrots
Broccoli
Mushrooms
Radicchio
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Pepper

The Quest . . .
Puff pastry comes from the freezer section of the grocery store. Thaw it in the frig for a few hours.

Flour a clean work surface and carefully unfold the dough.
It will most likely have creases from the folds. With a floured rolling pin, gently roll the creases out of the dough without spreading the pastry dough any thinner.
Tip: Whenever you are not working on your dough, cover it with a damp towel.
Using a fork, prick the entire piece of dough until it is completely covered.
Divide the dough in half with a pizza cutter.

Let's make the Underworld Map First . . .
Preheat the oven to 400 degree F. Place one half of the prepped puff pastry dough on a greased cookie sheet and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Don't worry about it being perfectly rectangular. Old maps look better this way.

This is what a done pastry look like.
 Brush with melted butter.

Top with cinnamon sugar mixture. Let completely cool. About 10 minutes. Meanwhile, decide on your map. I have chosen the Eagle which is the first dungeon in the original Legend of Zelda
Using your fixings, draw a map with the chocolate sauce (Navi: Watch out! It's thin and may run on you).
Use the cherries, coconut, chocolate chips, etc. mark various things on the map.
Cut into eight pieces with a pizza cutter and enjoy!

And now for the Overworld . . .
Place one half of the prepped puff pastry onto a cool greased cookie sheet. Brush with olive oil. Then add chopped parsley. Set aside, but make sure the oven is preheated to 400 degrees F.
Prep your veggies. I am using broccoli for the trees, mushrooms for the burnt trees, carrots for the bridge and asparagus for trees that make up the underworld entrance. I also use an olive for the doorway. For the water of the lake, I had a little trouble finding blue savory food, so I decided to use radicchio which is obviously purple. Just remember that you have to have a little vision to do some of these projects.

Arrange your vegetables according to your design. I am doing the entrance to the first dungeon in the original Legend of Zelda, but feel free to do as you like. Add shredded cheese between the vegetables and around the edge. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the entire dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cut into eight pieces with a pizza cutter and enjoy!

Enjoy!

Quest 5: Great Fairy's Tears

Great Fairy's Tears are one of the best treasures to be sought in the LOZ game Twilight Princess. This delectable potion restores all your health and provides with a short time of double damage with your sword. The first bottle of the good stuff can be found after helping Jovani (the guy that is essentially comatose and has all the cats outside his house in Castletown) capture 20 Poes. You can also acquire some of this by conquering the Cave of Ordeals. For those of you playing along at home, this is a desert cave that is 50 floors of  "OMG I'm going to die" that each need to be conquered without leaving. The good thing is once you succeed, you can go to any of the springs where the spirits of light are and get another bottle when you run out.

Now since this potion provides Link with a little something extra (temporary sword strength), I think that is only fair that there is a little something extra in this potion.

Note: Please consume Great Fairy's Tears responsibly and in moderation. Also, given the octane level, please mind the serving size. Like real Great Fairy's Tears, you may experience a temporary feeling of strength, trust me this will pass . . .

This recipe make 6 strong drinks
Ingredients:
6 oz. Everclear
6 oz. Hpnotiq
12 oz.Tahitian Treat Soda
6 oz. Ginger Ale
3 oz. Cranberry Juice
Ice

You will also need:
A Jigger or shot glass with measurements
Pitcher
Wooden Spoon
6 Chilled Glasses

Let's try it!

Chill your glasses with ice.

Add ice into your pitcher.
I made enough of the recipe for two drinks, so I made it in a quart canning jar.

Carefully measure your alcohol and add to pitcher.

Add the rest of the ingredients to the pitcher.

With a wooden spoon, gently mix the drink.
I had a small jar, so I use the handle.

Either with the wooden spoon or a strainer, pour into the glass without the ice.

Add a little garnish. I took a bamboo fork and added two cherries
sandwiched around a  piece of pineapple.

Quest 4: Those Buzzing Bees

Some say that Navi is one of the most annoying characters in the LOZ series. However, I find the buzzing of bees to be equally as annoying. Bees have appeared in a least 8 titles of the LOZ series starting with A Link to the Past. It seems no matter where you turn, there they are. Most of the time you can defeat them, but sometimes it's good to just run away. The bees seem to have what you need whether it be for fishing or trade - yet they are unwilling to share without an incident of some sort either with yourself or some unfortunate bystander. Well, the bees are the inspiration for this week's post. I have researched this recipe across the internet - and they are all about the same. So, I came up with an ingenious way to make these just a little bit more special. Let's stuff them with chocolate sundae sauce! Enjoy these cute and easy no bake treat.

Gear:
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

3/4 cup GF graham cracker crumbs

1 ounce semisweet chocolate

1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted

1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted

1/4 cup chocolate fudge sundae sauce

Tools:

Mixing Bowl
Wooden Spoon
Rolling Pin or other heavy object
2 Quart Size Zip-top bags
Waxed Paper
Cookie Sheet
Cake decorating tip
Bamboo Skewer

The Quest!!
Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. Take a zip-top bag and assemble the decorating tip on it by cutting one corner of the bag. You can also use a cake decorating bag for this. I used a #5 round decorating tip, but really any medium sized tip you have should work.

Add your chocolate fudge sundae sauce to the bag and push it all the way to the tip. Twist the bag shut to take out any air. Squeezing gently but firmly, start making chocolate drops on the waxed paper. You should be shooting for about 1/2 inch circle.

I made more than I needed, but I plan on snacking too. Place these in the freezer for 1 to 2 hours or until they are frozen.

After a while of waiting, you can get started on the bees.

Take a package of graham crackers and place them in a zip-top bag. Take all the air out the bag and seal it shut. Now, get your handy rat killer, I mean hammer or rolling pin or other heavy device. A large skillet would even be quite satisfying for this part.

Anyways, whack the daylights out of the graham crackers until they are nothing but powder.

Could we use a food processor for this? Sure, but what's the fun in that.

In a bowl, add your butter, powdered sugar and peanut butter.

 Cream together until smooth.

Stir in graham cracker crumbs and form a ball.

In a small non-stick frying pan, toast your nuts. I did mine in two batches to keep them separate. Do this on medium heat and do NOT walk away from the stove or you will burn your nuts.
Yes, that's what I said.

Now that the chocolate fudge sauce is frozen, take small end of a melon baller and scoop 1 inch balls of the peanut butter dough. Place a piece of chocolate in the middle and wrap the dough around it.

Roll it between your hands to make an oval.

Melt the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave.
I start with 1 minute, mix it, and then check it every 10 seconds until it is melted.

Drizzle the chocolate in a back and forth motion using a bamboo skewer or a tooth pick.

Add a slivered almond to the back to make the stinger.

Add two more slivered almonds to make the antennae. I painted mine with some extra semi-sweet chocolate.

Add two or four sliced almonds, depending upon your design, to the back for wings.

Paint a little face with any leftover melted chocolate.

Enjoy!
